THE BUREAU OF USEFUL THINGS

BRR • THE BUREAU OF USEFUL THINGS

The Bureau of Useful Things is a free, editable life-operations system for the ordinary work that keeps a household moving: days, tasks, projects, meals, pantry, routines, reference tools, and the loose ends that otherwise live in six different places.

Start with a ready-made path, adapt it until it fits, or build from scratch. The parts work together—Today, Living Radar, Kitchen, Templates, Field Tools, and Opportunity Protocols—so a captured thought can become a task, a meal can become a grocery list, and unfinished work can find its way forward without asking anyone to hold the whole system in their head.

Everything is prefilled and editable. Created days and templates can be downloaded as PDFs, and the Bureau itself can be installed as a web app—effectively downloaded to a phone, tablet, or computer—for offline use.

No account. No payment. No advertising inside the program. No AI processing. Personal entries stay on the device unless the user chooses to export a backup.

The Bureau of Useful Things: A Small System for Real Life

Open the Bureau in a browser, or use its built-in guide to install it as a web app. Changes save automatically on this device using its built-in browser database, with rotating recovery points and safeguards before updates, imports, and resets.

Program updates can improve BRR templates and structure without replacing personal tasks, recipes, settings, edits, history, or other user-created work. When an update is ready, the Bureau asks whether to update now or later.

Important: local saving protects ordinary use, but it cannot recover information after a lost device, factory reset, deliberate deletion of app data, or an uninstall that removes stored information. The Bureau includes downloadable backups for complete user-controlled protection.
